Sunday snapshot: another glimpse

Ni Hao Y'all

We enlisted the help of Adele at Blessed Kids to see if we could get some updated photos of our girl, Jenna.
Her referral photos were from when she was just one, (about 8 months old), and in one of them, her eyes were half-closed.
So, I was dyin' to see her!
It took some extra time, but on Friday, we received three updated shots. eak!
I hadn't posted her picture previously because I wanted confirmation from our agency that it was ok to do so.

Isn't she sweet?

Vicki,
I'm so glad you stopped by from Sunday Snapshot! Letmetellyou, you certainly got my attention quick when you said you recognized the arena in the photos! God is so often putting people in my path right where I AM, right when I am at a point of total doubt, I am utterly amazed! You see, I used photos of the younger boys from our hockey games in IC earlier in the year ... and with the Hawkeye gear and the connection to Sara and Bill (Fried Rice) on your blog I gotta say you are in I.C. or there abouts? Which is just down the road from us. I live in Shellsburg just west of CR! I should save most of this for an email or it will be long. You can contact me via almquist@fmtcs.com if you are interested. My heart is SO moved for orphans and I would love to adopt, but I don't think that is necessarily God's plan, or at least not at this time as the rest of the family is not on board. (UG!) And yet my heart still aches so deeply. I kinda envy families who have open hearts to follow the suggestion of one family member to adopt but then I also see how God can and will use this time to grow all of us if it is His will. I've brought it up to my husband and he just is not there. It will be God moving His heart that will be the mountain that is moved. Not that he doesn't appreciate adoption and see it's value. He just doesn't see it as something we can handle at this point with the stress in his job and our three active boys. (I long for a girl ... it's true ... I love my boys ... but ... they long for their daddy, which is probably very good for boys!) And yet I have this ache that I WISH I would have shared before we were married when we were discussing potential children. I kick my self over and over again for that because it was something that has been in my heart forever. And when I truly search my heart ... it isn't just adopting a girl that moves me. I have fallen in love with so many boys at New Day(a foster home in China--oh yes, that Mya was at!) that I would love to parent--especially Samuel--kinda crazy ... who am I to think I could or should parent another child? We have challenges with the boys we have! (HA!)

Anyway, It's kinda crazy how I linked up with Sara (Fried Rice) too as she was still out in CO at the time. I just kinda believe/hope that the string of people that keep showing up so close to our family's path is God's reassurance to my timid heart that HE will show the way as long as my heart is right with Him and I continue to work on being Bold in the Lord (which I have a ways to go on.) And if adoption is not His call for our family, I stand firm in the hope that there is so much good that can come out of this journey even beyond adoption. We are not all called to parent, but we are all called to love.
Thanks SO much for leaving a note. I thank God for his hand on your heart in faithfulness through your journey (I read the adoption story on your blog ... oh my goodness what a road!) And your new daughter is beautiful! I would also LOVE to send in a quilt piece if you'd like to share your address. I've sent a few to other friends and it is just so fun to be a part of good wishes! Also, I'm working on a quilted piece for the LWB Art Auction that will be in April if you are familiar with that ... I posted on that a few days before the Sunday Snapshot. Oh my this is long. Sorry!
Have a Blessed Day and thanks again for stopping by!
