another sign of spring

baseball fever has hit our house! it normally does this time of year, but this year in addition to following the Cubbies, we have another team to follow- Ben's!!
He's playing in a more competitive league this year where they pitch to each other and steal bases and all. (as I call it, REAL baseball!) He's having a BLAST, and so are we, watching him enjoy playing a game we all love.
Here's a recent shot from a scrimmage....games to come in a couple of weeks.

a spring hike

it has been so nice lately so we took advantage of the beautiful day and having the kids home and went out for a hike on Friday. Kinda weird because there were no leaves on all the trees yet, but it was still great to get out there. and Emily LOVED the backpack! a huge bonus!

those were my nails

I heard this song many Easter's ago, and ever since then, I think of it on Easter. I think it puts perfectly into words what I really can't understand......how could someone choose to take my place, for what I deserve?
Anyways, unfortunately, it wasn't listed on project playlist for me to share with you. You'll have to itunes it.... It's called "On My Cross," by FFH.
but first, read the lyrics.....really powerful. Happy Easter!

How wide is Your love
That you would stretch Your arms
And go around the world
And why for me would a Savior's cry be heard

I don't know
Why You went where I was meant to go
I don't know
Why you love me so

Those were my nails
That was my crown
That pierced Your hands and Your brow
Those were my thorns
Those were my scorns
Those were my tears that fell down
And just as you said it would be
You did it all for me
After you counted the cost
You took my shame, my blame
On my cross

How deep is Your grace
That You could see my need
And chose to take my place
And then for me, these words I'd hear you say

Father no
Forgive them for they know not what they do
I will go
Because I love them so

abby's 5 year photos

now, remember, I'm still learning.....but my goal in this photography class has really been to be able to take better shots of my kids. My real end goal is to have some good enough to frame and hang in our house by the end.
anyways, since Abby just turned 5 I decided to have a 'photo shoot' with her and see if I could take her 5 year portraits myself. Of course, I still have a ways to go, but I can certainly see the improvement in my shots and there were a few I was particularly happy with...here they are!
